Camping

What a good weekend! Full of fun activities. The first activity was camping.

I was on-call on Friday for work but we didn't let that stop us from going out and having fun. We were planning to spend some time relaxing at the waterpark but made an improptu change and decided to go camping. The biggest thing that has kept us from camping thus far in our marriage is a lack of air mattresses and sleeping bags. We got a tent and multiple camping essentials as wedding gifts but I was having troubles justifying buying a mattress/sleeping bags since we never go camping. The problem was that we never went camping BECAUSE we didn't have sleeping bags and a mattress. So when the idea came on Friday to go, we decided we would just load up lots of pillows and blankets and tough it out. Lets just say, we now have justification to go get a mattress. We hardly slept on the hard ground and have bruised hips and tail bones from the pressure. Aside from the rough sleeping situation, we had fun sitting around (away from the TV and computer) talking about life and enjoying the fresh air.

Good thing Brett is so strong and set up our tent!

And so good at starting fires!

And so talented at cooking on a fire!

Our tin foil dinners turned out perfectly. Yum Yum! (yes, we have a full dish set for camping... but no sleeping bags)

I recently found some new ideas for tin foil recipes (banana boats and Malibu chicken) but I'm hesitant to try them. What have you cooked in tin foil on a camp fire? Was it good?
