We didn't take pictures of every thing we did (I think I was burnt out from Cancun) but we did have lots of fun!
Brett and I flew in on Thursday the 23rd. The rest of the clan had been there for a while but they saved some of the traditional activities for us all to do together. They all picked us up at the airport and we went straight to Peacock lane.
This is the only picture I got of everyone. I promise Brett and I were there, we were just taking the picture. For those of you unfamiliar with Peacock lane, it is this old street in Portland that decorates the whole street every year. The architectural style make the houses look like giant gingerbread houses.
Part of moving onto the street means you have to agree to participate. Its kinda a big deal and lots of fun to see so many lights in one place. There are also horse drawn carriages, and carolers, and even Santa!
We enjoyed walking around and it finally started to feel like Christmas.
On Christmas Eve we got dressed up and went out to dinner and then went to a Christmas concert down town. The concert was by Michael Allen Harrison and was absolutely beautiful. He is a very skilled piano player and had lots of fun pieces and talented guest performers.
Of course Christmas day was also great. It was great to have everyone there as it had been years since we had all been together for a holiday. We got spoiled and enjoyed giving our gifts to the rest of the family too. We ate yummy monkey bread, opened presents, ate more, played with presents, ate more and relaxed. It was a great day!
We only had a few more days in Portland to relax. Of course we slept in and we got some shopping done too. I just couldn't pass up the lack of sales tax and after Christmas sales! It was a quick 5 day trip and we were back to the grind on Tuesday but it was fun to get out of Utah again and spend time with family.
