Due to work schedules, there are many hours during the weekend when Brett is off at work and I am left to do my own thing. For the most part, I try to be productive (groceries, laundry, cleaning, the occasional craft or shopping trip, hanging out with friends etc) but there are times when I just want to kick back and relax. Give me a computer with internet and I can pass the hours very quickly. And so today I shall teach you my ways and let you glimpse into what I do in my free time online. Don't judge me too harshly and considered yourself warned, you shouldn't click on the links unless you have some time to waste.
My number one go to is reading blogs. My Google reader is packed full of blogs; mostly those of family and friends but there are also plenty of craft and recipe blogs. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I have 122 subscriptions. Luckily my reader lets me know which ones have updated, even though some (cough cough, you know who you are) rarely update. A few of my non-friend favorites are: Catalog Living, UCreate, Coming to Grips, The Dating Diva's and a recent addition of Sunshine Promises. If you have any suggestions send them my way!
After I check my blogs, I go to facebook. I'm not the type to spend hours clicking around on facebook looking at people's pages. However, Brett and I both are semi-addicted to the game FARKLE. Because of our addiction to winning more and more chips in Farkle, I know that we would be very bad gamblers! Luckily the game is played without any actually money.
If I run out of new blogs to read and lost too many games of farkle I have a new favorite website: Pinterest.com. This website is great. It allows me to "pin" things that I like or want to remember. It helps me keep track of different crafts I want to try and helps me remember things that make me happy. Also, it is super easy to spend a few
Part of my pinterest addiction is due in part to the "shopping feel" it provides. Another website I play around on is Polyvore. Polyvore allows me to play dress up without actually spending any money. I get to create different outfits and shop for new styles all online. I've always been hesitant to spend money, but being able to see the clothes in multiple outfits helps me decide if I like something enough to buy it. I have yet to get addicted to shopping online, and lets hope it stays that way.
Of course, if Brett is around, watching shows on Hulu together is our preferred internet activity. The internet really is an amazing thing. So much information at our fingertips. Its easy to spend too much time online, so I have to make a conscious effort not too. Luckily the weather is finally getting nice around these parts so its easier to spend more time outside enjoying an even greater creation!
What do you do online? Please tell my I'm not the only one that can spend a few hours online and not know where they went!
